چکیده

The Ethiopian highlands are affected by soil erosion resulting in the deterioration of properties. To reverse this, different and water conservation (SWC) measures were spatially practiced; however, effect SWC slope gradient on properties is not well studied area. Hence, this study was conducted to evaluate effects selected physicochemical Dawnt watershed, northwestern Ethiopia. treatments a combination four three gradients replicated at sites. Disturbed undisturbed samples collected from 0–20 cm depth, determined following standard laboratory procedures. results depict that sand, bulk density, moisture, particle porosity, pH, organic carbon (OC), cation exchange capacity (CEC), total nitrogen, available phosphorus significantly ( P < 0.05 ) gradient. High OC (2.44%), CEC (45 cmol (+) kg−1), moisture (19.55%) obtained stone-faced bund stabilized with grass (SFSBG) higher (7.83 ppm) (SB), while lower density (1.13 gm/cm3) SFSBG. Additionally, clay (41.67%) (19.81%), (1.14 g·cm−3) slope. Higher pH (6.75) (2.89%) recorded under SFSBG (6.03 1.02%) upper nonconserved. Soil chemical properties, except potassium, increased down interactions position affect texture, carbon, but content, capacity, potassium. In general, improved through integrating practices multipurpose species across watershed. Therefore, it possible infer improve observed which urge for maintenance development watershed as nearby similar topographic conditions agroclimatic characteristics.

Effect of natural land covers on runoff and soil loss at the hill slope scale

Erosion plots were selected for characterizing the effects of main natural factors on runoff and soil loss in a semi-arid region. These erosion plots with an area of 40 m2 are located in the Kakhk experimental watershed in Gonabad County of Khorasan-e Razave Province in the north-eastern Iran. Data acquired from 2008 to 2015 include slope, aspect, soil texture and land covers (canopy...

Economic Prioritization of Watershed Management Projects Based on the Impact on Water, Soil and Plant Resources

In natural resources, economic evaluation is poor in terms of study due to the uncertainty of non-consuming value of resources. In the present study, the evaluation of water, soil and plant resources in watershed management projects and expert questioning was done to enable the projects to be evaluated and prioritized economically. Three sub-watersheds were selected from the Parcel A ...

Factors Affecting the Adoption of Conservation Measures in Soil Erosion Control: A Case of Orchard Lands of Chehel-Chay Watershed

1- INTRODUCTION Soil as one of the most important inputs in agricultural production process plays an important role in the quality of production operation, food security and sustainable development. On the other hand, soil erosion as one of the environmental agriculture issues has been intensified with increasing population and transforming to intensive forms of agriculture in recent years. Mi...

Effects of Frozen Soil on Snowmelt Runoff and Soil Water Storage at a Continental Scale

The presence of ice in soil dramatically alters soil hydrologic and thermal properties. Despite this important role, many recent studies show that explicitly including the hydrologic effects of soil ice in land surface models degrades the simulation of runoff in cold regions. This paper addresses this dilemma by employing the Community Land Model version 2.0 (CLM2.0) developed at the National C...
